Fueling

BEFORE FUELING:

Extinguish all smoking materials and check the fueling area for other sources of spark or flame.

Shut off engine, and electrical generator if one is aboard

De-energize all electrical equipment

Close all hatches and ports

Ensure a fire extiguisher is readily available

Ensure the proper (diesel, no gasoline) hose is about to be used.

FUELING:

While fueling, note how much fuel correspond to the marking (1/4. 1/2. 3/4. F)

AFTER FUELING:

Check below decks for presence of fumes or fuel leakage. Check bilge, engine space, main cabin

If evidence of leack is found, determine the cause, correct it, and clean it up before proceeding

Open hatches and ports to ventilate the boat

Switch on battery

Engine to be started only after assessed for hazards
